Committee DutiesThis committee of Classis is responsible for conducting the business of the Classis between stated sessions. According to Classis by-laws, our purview is covered in the Rules of Order Article VI, Section 2: The Church Planning and Development Committee shall: a. Deal with the development of churches within the bounds of Classis, individually or collectively, for the advancement of the Kingdom. b. Provide for the supervision of Classis churches without an installed minister by making recommendations regarding the appointment of supervisors. c. Establish and recommend approval of minister-under-contract and pulpit supply relationships with Classis churches. d. Receive requests to the Classis for salary supplements from the churches and make requests to the Classis on their behalf. e. Seek the advice and counsel of the two (2) elder delegates from each church having a contract minister prior to the renewal of the contract. f. Provide for training in supervision for all ministers of Word and Sacrament who are supervising a church without an installed minister. g. Collect and review, at the June meeting of Classis, the minutes of all the meetings of the boards of elders of Classis churches in accordance with the Book of Church Order of the Reformed Church in America, Chapter 1, Part 1, Article 5, and make a report to Classis. |
